Frustrating Weather
Towards the end of last week we thought the weather was on the up, it was sunny, though still cold and March was round the corner. We thought things were on the up! Then March comes and it's gone all wet again, we even had snow this morning!
New President
Last week we had the announcement of our new President for the season to come. John Rowley has taken over from Anthony Bentley. We would like to thank Antony for his year in the role. He had a great year as President and let's hope for more of the same from John. We would like to wish John the best of luck as we look forward to another good season to come.
Here is a mug shot of John on his first weekend as president.

March Madness - Get your Money back!!
Alongside this we are running a chance for you to get your money back on items purchased in shop.
What we are doing is when you buy a piece of new hardware we will assign you with a player who uses that brand. We are starting off with the New PING clubs we have in shop, the PING G series.
If you buy any of the new clubs and Oosthuizen wins the Masters we will give you your money back! In case you didn't know, Oosthuizen won the Perth International at the weekend.
Major Fantasy League
For a bit of fun we are going to run a "Major Fantasy League".
How this is going to run is for each major you chose 3 players from 3 pots.
1. Pot 1 - Top 6 players in the world
2. Pot 2 - 6 Outsiders to win it (picked by pros)
3. Pot 3 - 6 players unlikely to make cut (picked by pros)
If your player wins the Major you get 1 point, comes 2nd you get 2 points and so on. If your player doesn't make the cut you will get 100 points. The person with the least amount of points at the end is the winner.
So for example if you have Spieth, Donaldson and Clarke and Spieth wins it for 1 point, Donaldson comes 20th for 20 points and Clarke doesn't make the cut for 100, you will get:
1+20+100=121.
Ball Testers
We need ball testers for the new Titleist balls; the new NXT Tour S, Velocity and DT TruSoft. We just want people to come and pick up a ball, have a go with it on the course and let us know what you think.
This would be a great help for us and you get a free ball out of it!
Pop into the shop for more details!
Ladies Competition
Last Tuesday the ladies played in a Stableford comp. The field was split into two divisions. In Division 1 Jill Kimber came in 3rd with 25 points, Caroline Harrison-Croft came 2nd with 26 but Margaret Simons came in with a great score of 29 points to win the division. In Division 2 we had some equally good scores. In 3rd was Jean Duncan with 26 points, in 2nd was Jane Campaigne on 28, but in 1st place was none other than our Lady President with an impressive 29 points. Well done to all the winners in last week's competitions.
Putting Drills
Moving on from what we talked about last week, where we showed you how to warm up, we are going to touch on putting drills that you can do to make you a better putter. Here are a couple of simple drills you can use to help you practice.
1. Alignment Mirror
Here is a video of me using a putting alignment mirror; this is a great drill to help you improve your confidence in your putting stroke. You simply line the mirror up so it is on the correct line to hole a putt. You then just hit putt after putt, as your mirror is lined up, as long as you hit the putt hard enough the putt will be sank. This is a great way to gain confidence in holing those nervy short putts.
2. Apex Drill
Here is a video of me doing this drill. What you do is find the line for a 20 foot(ish) putt which has a break. Find the apex of the putt and putt two pegs down, the width of the hole that you are then going to aim between. This drill will give you more confidence in your longer lag putts.
Spring has Sprung (but not quite)
Now that March is upon is its time for the weather to start improving, so when it eventually does we look forward to seeing more of you down here more often!!
