On Friday the senior ladies had their spring meeting competition which was won by Maura Delany, here is a picture of Maura looking very happy with her win.
Saturday came the turn of the gents who played in a stableford competition with some very good scores coming in. In Division 2, Andrew Oakes scored 36 to come in 3rd, Graeme Greaves shot 37 to come in 2nd and the winner with a great score of 39 points was Josh Turnock. Division 2 saw some even better scores; Brian Leatherbarrow shot 37 for 3rd place and he was just beaten by Ken Jee on a card play-off, but way out in front and the overall winner with a fantastic score of 41 points was Tim Royle.
Last week we carried on talking about taking the course to the practice ground, talking about how you can recreate the shot up to the fifth green. This week we are going to talk about how you can practice chipping when you have a bunker or stream or any hazard between you and the green.
For a lot of people this can be quite a daunting situation, you end up thinking about the hazard too much and as a consequence lose concentration.
This situation can be very easily replicated on the practice ground. Simply place a bag, or any item to replicate the hazard, between you and the green and chip over it. Here is a video of me putting this into action. Keep practising this on the practice ground, when it comes round to having to clear a hazard on the course you will have no problem as your mind-set will have changed.

Product Spotlight - Balls
With the product spotlight we are going to start focusing on balls for the next couple of weeks. This week we are going to look at the Velocity and the DT Tru Soft.
Velocity - The Titleist Velocity golf ball delivers fast initial ball speed on all full swing shots for explosive distance while providing playable feel in the short game. The exclusive LSX core produces high initial ball speed for more power off the tee and shorter approach shots into the green.
The advanced spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design delivers a more penetrating trajectory with a shallower angle of descent for even more roll. Titleist Velocity golf balls provide power, precision and playable feel.
DT TruSoft - The new version one of Titleist's most popular balls, the DT Solo. The new Titleist DT TruSoft golf ball provides the softest compression feel while delivering impressive distance and good short game playability. Titleist R&D engineered a new core and cover formulation that delivers very low spin in the long game for impressive distance along with short game playability.
DT TruSoft technology results in the best combination of very soft compression feel and the consistent performance you expect from Titleist.
Ball Fitting
Not sure which ball is right for you?
Come to our ball fitting sessions on the 7th and 8th of May. We want to educate on what ball is right for you. This will be the ball in which you get the least driver spin, so the ball goes further, and the most wedge spin, so you have the most control on the greens. We are willing to bet you are using the wrong ball at the moment!
Product Spotlight - Cobra King
The Cobra King LTD is their first driver to align the Centre of Gravity (CG) with the neutral axis of the driver head. This is a line from the centre of the face to the back of the head and the optimum CG placement is as far back on this line as possible.
It is easier to hit this line closer to the face as the axis line is higher, but the benefit of the forgiveness is less and manufacturers have for years tried to get the compromise right.
Cobra are calling this the Zero Gravity CG position and the space analogies do not stop there, as they have worked with boffins on the International Space Station to research the best technology and materials to reduce weight without losing strength.
