Last Wednesday 11th May we had one of Monthly Midweek Stableford competitions. In this competition Terry Cross came in 3rd place with 36 points, narrowly beaten by Russel Gardner who managed the same score but beat Terry on a card play-off. Anthony Greensmith was the eventual winner, scoring a very good 38 points.

The following Saturday we had a Pro-Am Qualifier in which the lucky winner gets to go on a trip with me to Formby in July, and if we're lucky enough to win that then a trip to Vilamoura is on the cards! In 3rd place in the comp was Andrew Greenhalgh who scored a Nett 72, a further 5 shots ahead of him with a great score of 67 was Elliot Kirton. 

However, even further ahead with a fantastic score of 64 and also hitting the lowest gross of the day was Thomas Leigh, here he is looking very excited at the prospect of playing Formby with me.

On Tuesday just gone the ladies played in a Medal Competition. Jill Morris came in third with 74, equal to Nicky Markland in 2nd. But out in front with a great score of 71 and the lowest gross of the day was Jae Bowers.

Day the new Tiger? 

Jason Day joined an elite club to have posted multiple wire-to-wire victories in the same season as a composed one-under 71 was enough to claim a comfortable four-shot victory at the Players Championship. Day was uncharacteristically nervy on the greens on the front nine at TPC Sawgrass in Florida on Sunday as he dropped shots at the sixth and ninth to turn in 38 with his overnight four-shot lead halved, but he shut the door on the field with birdies at 10 and 12 before cruising to the finish line. The Australian led from start to finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, and his win at the course in Ponte Vedra Beach emulates the feats of Tiger Woods (twice), Tom Watson and Johnny Miller in going wire to wire twice in the same year.
