On Saturday the gents played the last major of the year all hoping they could make the Worthington and the top dog knockouts. There were some great scores again this week with the course playing difficult and in brilliant condition once again. Jeremiah Hayes came in 3rd place with a nett score of 70 shooting a gross 72. Then in 2nd place just losing out on a card playoff was Joshua Turnock with a nett 68. But the winner was Tony Dean with a score of nett 68. Well done Tony on winning the last major of the year! Here he is pictured with the winners shield.
The Taylor Memorial was won by Craig barker with a fantastic nett 68. After this score Craig has got himself back down to a single figure handicap. Well done Craig!!
The ladies Taylor Memorial was won by Josephine Harrison with a brilliant score. Shooting a gross 76 nett 72 just edging Gill Mellor by a shot.
The following day the juniors played the Bob Nish Trophy which was won by Matthew Salt who shot a great score of 74 of a handicap of 9, coming up with 42 points and the trophy.
Congratulations to all the winners this week and to everyone who has made the Top Dog and the Worthington knockouts
Europe in form for the Ryder Cup
With the Ryder Cup looming the Europeans were putting on a great display of golf in Italy in the 73rd Italian open. Just missing out by a shot from Francesco Molinari was Masters Champion Danny Willet shooting a superb score of 21 under par. Next finishing in a tie for 12th was Rafa Cabrera Bello. Another solid performance for Rafa, who tee to green, was as impressive as ever in Monza this week. He found 59 of 72 Greens in Regulation for the week, one more than the winner Francesco Molinari.
Young star Matthew Fitzpatrick finished in a very respectable tie for 15th place. Chris Wood, Martin Kaymer, and Andy Sullivan all finished in a tie for 20th place.
There are still assumptions on who will take the last spot for team USA. Davis love III is waiting for the end of the Fedex cup tour championship before he makes his last wild card pick. After two years ago Billy Horschel went ahead and won the tour championship but wasn't picked because the team was already chosen. Davis love will avoid that this time by picking the man who is in form at this year's tour championship.
We have the brand new Callaway XR16 Steelhead in the shop; it is the latest forgiving iron that Callaway have to offer. The CG has been strategically placed in each iron to get the most out of each shot. They will help you launch the long irons and give you greater carry, easy launch and keen control with the mid irons and lower but higher spinning shots with the short irons.
We also have the demo the XR16 Steelhead rescue club; with the Hyper Speed Face Cup technology promotes faster ball speed for more ball speed, especially on off-centre hits. We have a wide range of shafts and lie settings for the iron so you can find the right fit for you.
We are also going to do some golf ball testing with any members who would like to take part. We will be looking at what ball works the best for your swing, to see if you're getting the most of your game. Nick will set a monitor up and you'll be testing a wide range of balls till you find your best. Any member that is interested feel free to click here and enquire, the more members we get on board to take part the better.
We are also doing a Ball Fitting Week. If you would like to know which ball we sell in the shop is best suited to your swing, come and have a go with our launch monitor in the nets. It will test the spin and launch you get on the ball to determine which ball is best for your game.

Our middle son Adam is moving to Dubai! His girlfriend has got a job there and he is going with her, he will then look for a job whilst he is out there.
He will be sorely missed but I do look forward to going out there to visit, and possibly play some of the golf courses out there too!

Video of the week | It's not long now until the chest thumping and fist pumping starts, and in the build up to this year's Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, a few of the players have been busy slapping on a bit of face paint. Time to book your place in front of the TV, or down the club, and watch all the action on Sky Sports. |
