On Saturday the gents played in an age related stableford on a bright and sunny Autumn day. The comp was split into 4 categories; the up to 54s, 55-64, 65-74 and the over 75s. In the youngest category Jonathan Salem won with a good score of 37 points. This score however was dwarfed by Nick Wood's monstrous score in the 55-64s; Nick scored a fantastic score of 44 points, which was by far the highest of the day. Then in the 65-74 category Hassan Youshani scored a very good 39 points, Hassan has been having lessons with Nick and it seems they are starting to pay off and his handicap has come down by 2 shots! Finally, in the over 75 category Ray Bowie (pictured) scored 32 points to take the money, Ray has recently bought a new set of bats and it looks like he's got the hang of them.
On Tuesday the ladies then played in Par/Bogey competition and they split the field into 2 divisions. In Division 2 Margaret Woof came in 2nd with a score of 0, fending off Elaine Fawkes and Maura Delany on a card playoff. In division 1 Jane Campaigne stole the show with an impressive score of 3 which nobody else go close to in the whole competitions. Well done Jane on a great round and everyone else who made the prizes.
We would also like to mention something we forgot to last week, Brian Leatherbarrow won the mid-week comp a couple of weeks ago and he also won August's mid-week comp.
2 mid-weeks in a row is pretty impressive.
I've just signed him in for October's mid-week stableford so let's see if he can do 3 out of 3!
Tiger In then Out
The whole golfing world was excited to see Tiger back in action when he announced last week that he would be playing in the Safeway Open. Though as quickly as it seemed he was making his return he withdrew again, saying his game was vulnerable. The 14-time Major winner will stay on the side lines until November at the earliest. Woods has previously suffered from the chipping yips and there are fears the card-wrecking affliction could have returned. It is still unclear to see whether the great man will ever make his full return to competitive golf.
