At the weekend we had our end of season Captain vs President match play. It was on what was a glorious day for golf, which was nice as we aren't expecting many more days like it in the coming months. The Captain led from the front winning his match but that's about as good as it got for his team.
The president's team eventually won the match 8-2, an absolute trouncing, unlucky Mr Captain.
Now the Captain vs President match marks the end the season at Prestbury. The clocks change next week which is in my opinion the worst week for golf. The evenings get dark very early which makes it difficult to platy afternoon golf let alone evening golf and the course will start to get boggier and scruffier. Though it's not all doom and gloom. The winter league registration has opened and is available to sign up for in the shop. So come sign up if winter golf is your thing.
At the weekend we also had the foursomes knockout final. Matt Sorrigan and Garry Titchen beat James Newton and Robin Hall in the final.
Here they are pictured enjoying a drink after their final. Matt and Garry also recently went to St Pierre for the Daily Mail 4'somes final week end where they won their first match but lost in the quarter finals, great effort.

British Masters
Sweden's Alex Noren moved into the world's top 20 after holding his nerve to claim a remarkable third victory in his last eight events at the British Masters. Noren carded a final round of 69 at The Grove to finish 18 under par and two shots ahead of Austria's Bernd Wiesberger, with Lee Westwood a stroke further back in third. Ranked 110th in the world after missing the cut in the Irish Open in May, Noren will be 18th in Monday's updated standings after adding Sunday's triumph - and the first prize of £500,000 - to victories in the Scottish Open and European Masters. Noren, whose win made certain of a Masters debut at Augusta next April, took a three-shot lead into the final round and birdied the first two holes, only for playing partner Richard Bland to do likewise. Bland's bogey on the seventh left Noren four clear, but the Monaco-based Swede then bogeyed the eighth as Bland holed from 50 feet across the green for an unlikely birdie. Noren's lead was down to a single shot when he bogeyed the 11th and Wiesberger briefly joined Noren in top spot with a birdie on the par-five 15th, only for Noren to do likewise in the group behind. With Wiesberger unable to birdie the par-five 18th Noren only needed a par to win, but a superb pitch to two feet set up a closing birdie.
Lee Westwood has been announced as the tournament host for the 2017 British Masters with the Englishman choosing Close House, in Newcastle upon Tyne. It will be the first time a European Tour tournament has been held at Close House, where the Ryder Cup star has been attached as the touring professional since 2011. Westwood succeeds Luke Donald in the role following the success of last week's event at The Grove, meaning for the second consecutive year the host of the British Masters will be a former world No 1. Westwood was a former winner of the British Masters in the tournament's first spell on the European Tour, claiming the title at The Belfry in 2007 then narrowly missing out on defending the title 12 months later when he lost in a play-off to Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at the same venue.
