Jailbreak, Exo-Cage, triaxial carbon, high MOI, low CG

No these terms are not from the latest blockbuster at the movies but Callaway's new driver the GREAT BIG BERTHA EPIC and I think it's EPIC by name and EPIC in performance.

We have our demo kit arriving next week and we thought it was best that we test it ourselves before putting it in to general use.

Jailbreak - is the strategic placement of two metal bars directly behind the face, this "profoundly changes how the head behaves to increase ball speed and distance," says Callaway. These titanium bars are situated behind the face and are connected to the crown and sole, this helps to reduce crown and sole deflection, allowing the face to convert more energy into distance.

Exo cage and triaxial carbon - the titanium exo cage combined with an ultra-light triaxial carbon crown and sole allows for improved perimeter weighting and more forgiveness.

High MOI and low CG - the head design allows a high Moment of Inertia which means that the head will twist less when contact with the ball occurs off centre and the low centre of gravity will lower spin, both hopefully should make the shot straighter and further.

To sum up the club it is more adjustable than the Great Big Bertha and the new technology redistributes weight creating more distance and ideal launch conditions. Callaway labels the EPIC as ideal for any player because of its improved adjustability, speed and forgiveness - the ultimate combination for everyone.

Friday, 27 January is a date to have in your diary! My evening will consist of a presentation to help make you a better player, a quiz and the prize draw.
