Callaway Epic wins again
It was another good week for the Callaway GBB Epic driver scoring, another tour win on the European Tour. Jeunghun Wang won the Qatar Masters after a three way play-off, the tying score was a superb -16 under par. Although he finished with the sub-zero Epic driver he didn't actually start with it, he changed to the driver on the Friday morning and instantly gelled, with his distance improving and his accuracy. This then is another example of a Non-Callaway staff player switching to the Epic driver because they are realising just how good this thing is. Come on into the shop and see for yourself. With the season fast approaching now, this is the best time to grab this superb driver.
Scotland Triumph as Smokey and The Bandit Get Washed Away
Once again it was a brilliant turn out for the annual England vs Scotland match which took place at the end of January. Unfortunately, we didn't get the end of the January weather. The rain was pretty much constant all morning and cold. However, the Scottish team were obviously much more used to the dreich conditions as they managed an 8(1/2) points to 5(1/2) points win. I am pleased to say that Paul Nixon and myself managed to get one of England's 5/12 points against Smokey and the Bandit AKA Hassan Youshani and Ian Rennison (Hassan pictured drowning his sorrows). It was Ian's first introduction into the game of foursomes and might be his last. On the plus side after drying out both teams enjoyed a hearty lunch of Haggis followed by beef prepared by Richard and Claire and beer and wine served by Neil and his staff and as always.
The food and service was of top quality. The good thing to come out of the result is that I don't have to change the flags round for next year's fixture. Hopefully Peter Boyd in his last year as England captain, he can next year orchestrate a win so he doesn't finish 0-3 in his tenure as captain.
Ladies Stableford
The ladies stableford on Tuesday, 24 January was played on a very cold morning with tough playing conditions. There was some brilliant scores on the day, but taking the first prize in Division Two was Wendy Mosely with a great score of 35 points and in Division One the winner was Margaret Simons with another good score of 34 points. Congratulations to both the winners on what was a tough day for scoring.
As many of you will know I had to cancel my Professionals Evening last Friday due to illness, once again I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may off caused you. After having a discussion with Neil our House Manager the next available date in the club diary is the evening of Friday 31, March. I hope that this date will be convenient to everyone who was due to attend originally. The format of the evening will be the same in that it is limited to 60 people and will cost £10.00 per person, this includes a prize draw on the night for two SkyCaddie watches, quiz prizes and a welcome drink. I hope to see you all there.
Cobra One Length
NEW into the shop are the one length Cobra irons which have been inspired by the Cobra Staff player Bryson DeChambeau. The idea for these clubs is that you have the same set up for each club in the bag instead adjusting your setup to the different lengths of a normal set of clubs. This means that the shot dispersion will be much tighter and the accuracy for long irons will be much greater. The end result is an easier way to the game.

Cost Sale
This is the final week of the cost price sale, there are still lots of brilliant bargains for you to try. Come on down into the shop and grab a bargain while the stocks last. New stock will be arriving soon for you to have a look at.
