Sunday was a Day to Celebrate!!!!
The Captain and I eventually won one of our challenge matches. Since we started the series at the beginning of the year we have managed to half most of our matches with a few losses thrown in. Personally we haven't done an awful lot wrong but everyone seems to have played very well against us until David Rowley and Conrad O'Neil!
It came down to a couple of putts on our side going in and theirs just missing. However we were getting worried when we lost the 15th & 16th holes before closing out the game on the 17th. I have also added a screen shot of my round to emphasise how far you walk and how many calories you use during a round of golf which is why you should make sure you eat and drink plenty whilst out on the course.
Ladies Par
This week saw the ladies playing a par and in division 1 Emma-Jayne Bolshaw beat Nicky Markland into 2nd place when the pair tied on 2up, Gill Mellor came in 3rd on 1up beating Jude Durrant on a card playoff. In division 2 Kirsten Forbes beat Gill Buxton on a card playoff when the pair tied on 2up with Margaret Fairhurst in 3rd position on 1up.
The ladies then played a Saturday stableford with Adrienne Wood leading the way with 29 points.
Gents Jubilee Vase
On Saturday the gents played the rearranged Jubilee Vase and normal service was resumed when Ian Rennison (pictured on the right) took the spoils with a great score of nett 63!!
A distant 2nd place was taken by Nick Hargreaves with a nett 67 with Andy Oakes, Eugene Smith, Richard Lowery and Tom Leigh tied on nett 68.
Waterproof Bag Test
I must admit I didn't think I would be doing this experiment in June!!! I have been testing the waterproofness of my Callaway Aquadry Carry Bag and I am pleased to say that it passed with flying colours! I decided to have one last year having played in a tournament in the pouring rain with my big tour bag which decided to let in a lot of water and everything got soaked because I hadn't used a raincover (which I despise). It's one of the best ideas I've had for a long time!

The Open
Our open sweepstake is now available in the shop. Usual format, £10 per player with prize money to spend in the shop up for grabs.
The Open this year is at Royal Birkdale. Situated on the golden links of the North-West coast in Southport, Royal Birkdale is possibly the finest of all courses in England. Royal Birkdale has held more Championship and International events since World War 2 than any other course in the world. Open Championships, Ryder Cups, Women's British Opens, Senior Opens, Amateur Championships, Walker Cups and Curtis Cups.
Royal Birkdale Golf Club has been voted the number one golf club in England, one of the top five clubs in the UK and amongst the top 35 in the world, it will certainly be a great venue for this year's British Open.

Cobra Fitting Day
Finally this week I am pleased to announce that we have a Cobra Fitting Day on Thursday, 20 July between 12 and 4pm on the practice ground. This is a great opportunity to hit the full range of their hardware and I would recommend booking an appointment with technician Sean, I will be on hand all day but Sean will have his Trackman on hand to crunch the numbers!!!
