Greetings from Nick Summerfield
Prestbury Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Last week we had the Taylor Memorial were 58 ladies took to the course for the Ladies Taylor Memorial Trophy. Angela Riordan took home the trophy with a very impressive Nett of 69 winning the competition comfortably by 3 shots. In 2nd place with still a very respectable score of 72, one below standard scratch, was Patricia Hunt who beat Emma Jayne Bolshaw on card play-off who deserves an honourable mention for her 3rd place finish.

We also had another Men's Taylor Memorial Medal on Saturday. 141 players competed for the prizes with Donald Campbell coming on top of the pile with a great Nett of 68. A number of others equalled Donalds's net; Simon Bolam, Chris Adams and Carl Phelan who all missed out on the card play-off. Simon deserves another mention as he scored the best Gross, a very impressive 70. We also had the mixed foursomes where we had 32 couples competing. Andrew and Denise Oakes took first place with a great score of 38 points. Mike and Alex Forbes took 2nd place with 37 points. Then we had 3 pairs in joint 3rd with 36 points; Our Captain and Nicky Markland, Graham and Vicky Keys and finally Mike and Elaine Fawkes. Well don't to all our winners last week.

This weekend, if the football is not your cup of tea, we have the Scottish Open taking place from Royal Aberdeen. Phil Mickelson won the 2013 tournament in a play-off and a week later was lifting his fifth Major title and first Claret Jug at Muirfield. The American returns to defend his Scottish Open crown this week, alongside two-time Major winner Rory McIlroy in what is a stellar field in Aberdeen. The Scottish Open therefore should give us a good idea of who has got their links game up to scratch and therefore who could potentially be taking home the Claret Jug at the end of next week. There is also the small matter of the Women's Brittish Open Royal Birkdale Golf Club. There is a very strong field for this year's Women's British with Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie being the stand out favourites to this major honour. Or could it be the young British talent Charlie Hull who is competing to try and win her first major trophy.

Moving on, of course next week the start of The Open and as usual we are doing our Sweepstake. It's £10 per player and only the top 50 players in the field will be used and there are only a few places left!!!! The prizes this year include Callaway X2Hot Driver, a PING i25 hybrid and Lynx Lob Wedge. Get down quick because there's only a few remaining!!!!

We also have a new competition on Facebook and Twitter to win some prizes. All you have to do is answer a simple question to have a chance to win. On Facebook, go to the page 'Prestbury Proshop' simply 'reply' to the question 'with The Open being at Hoylake this year, who was the last champion of Hoylake?' And/or answer the question on twitter by 're-tweeting' and leaving your answer to the question 'Where is the Ladies British Open being held?'

TO CLEAR

I have a stiff and regular shaft left in the PING i25 driver, fairway and hybrid. The deal is buy the driver at £199 and get the fairway at half price or buy the driver and fairway at full price and get the hybrid FOC. Remember when it's gone it's gone!!!

Finally this week my youngest son Scott will possibly be on a documentary about the Royal Marines which is being aired next week on Monday on Channel 4 at 9pm.

The show: "Royal Marines Commando School" gives a behind the scenes look at one of the most arduous military training programmes in the world and Scott's troop have been followed by the TV team from their arrival at the base until a few weeks ago, so it might make good watching or not!

So keep your eyes peeled.

Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great weekend.
