This week we had the Midweek Stableford, a brilliant turnout of around 50 players with a very competitive field. In third place with a score of 38 points was young Ross Clewley, in second place with a score of 40 points was Neil Bromley, but the winner with a score of 43 points was David Murray.
Next was the Men’s Jubilee Vase major competition, superb course conditions and hard ground conditions made for tough scoring. In a tie of third place was Mike Harrington and Ian Mathers with a score of 71, fighting out for the win was between Steven White and Marcus Barrow with a nett score of 70, after a card playoff the eventual winner was Marcus Barrow.
The next competition was the Mixed Invitation Greensomes, in third place was Caroline Harrison-Croft and her partner John Porter with 35 points, in second place was The Captain and his partner Liz Thomas with 37 points but storming to victory was Eamonn McGrath and his partner Sally Kay with a score of 43 points.
The ladies played there 36-hole Competition on Tuesday, with only a small field of ten players the scoring was good with a course playing so tough. The winner this year continuing her great season was Bel Wardle with a 36-hole total of 144 (level par). The winner of the nett competition was Lynne Cameron with a total of 154. There was also a Subsidiary Stableford being played as well, in second place in division 2 was Caroline Harrison-Croft on a total score of 37 points, but the winner of division 2 was Marie Hadfield just edging it with a score of 38 points. Coming in a tie for second was Jane Campaigne and Alex Forbes with a total score of 37 points, but the winner with a score of 38 points was Janet Higson.
