We had a few more competitions this week with the course back on the mend, which we begin with both the midweek stableford off the blue and yellow tees. Starting off with the blue tee competition, we had just a small field of two players which were Tom Lever and Michael Bebbington, the winner was Tom Lever who scored 19 points to take the win. A special reminder though for Mike because he managed to score a hole in one during his round on Wednesday, congratulations Mike.
Next, we move onto the yellow tee competition, another strong turnout as we had 58 players take part over the course on the day. In third place with a score of 37 points was Chris Adams, he was beaten into second by Elliot Kirton who managed 38 points off a handicap of two but the winner with a superb score of 41 points was Matt Delany, he shot five under gross to take the win.
On Saturday we had a variety of competitions both ladies and gents, starting off with the ladies Saturday stableford. Only two players in this competition which was Yvonne Hall and Jill Gregory, the winner was Yvonne Hall who scored 30 points. The next competition was the men’s stableford over the yellow course, 20 players chose the to play this course with good scoring from all. In third place with a score of 35 points was Ken Mairs, in second place just edging out Ken was Barry Kallaway who scored 36 points, but the winner of the yellow competition was Ken Jee with a total of 38 points.
Next was the white tees competition again played on Saturday with a healthy field of 107 players and superb scoring. In fourth place was a large group of players scoring a total of 38 points, it was a three-way tie for third place with Martin Prescott, David Rowley, and Jonathon Howarth scoring 39 points. The win had to be decided by a playoff between Sean Hammil and Peter Mountford both finished on 40 points, but it was Sean Hammil who had the better back nine of 21 points which gave him the victory.
The final competitions we are going to look at are the ladies 9-hole competition and medal No.4, starting off with the ladies 9-hole competition. We had 6 players in the event with 3 players tied on 16 points for the win which was Carolyn Lee, Jennifer Moore, and Janet Graham. The winner on countback was Jennifer Moore. The last competition was the ladies par No.4 played over 18 holes, in third place with a nett 75 off a handicap of plus 4 was Bel Wardle, in second place was Myra Penkethman with a nett 73, she was pipped by the winner Gill Mellor who shot a gross score of 75 nett 72 to grab the win.
