Last Tuesday 9th September it was our ladies Ferguson Bowl Final. 15 ladies took part in the PAR competition with the hope of winning the Ferguson Bowl Prize. Our runner up in this final was Jill Morris who managed a very good 2up, but she was just beaten by Helen Bolam who also managed 2up but won the competition after a card count back.
In addition to the Ferguson Bowl, on the same day, we had a ladies stableford. 35 ladies took part in this competition last week. In joint 2nd we had two ladies, Sheila Earl and Gill Kennedy both managed to shoot a very respectable 35 points. But a whopping 3 shots ahead of them was our very own Lady Captain, who managed to fantastic score of 38 points, easily winning this ladies stableford.
On the following Saturday 13th September we had a Men's Invitation Day. This was a 4 ball better ball competition with 2 shotgun starts. In what was nearly a full field 3 pairs managed to break the 40 point barrier. Marcos Barrow and his guest Paul Barrow managed a great score of 40 points but it was only enough to come 3rd. 1 shot further ahead with 41 points was Gary Titchen and his guest Mike Harrington who were our runners up on the day. But with a magnificent score of 42 points were our winners, Richard Atkinson and Steve Whitfield. Well done to everyone in the prizes in last week's competitions.

Billy Horschel capped off the best three weeks of his career with the biggest payoff in golf. Horschel pulled away from a self-destructing Rory McIlroy early, and then holed two clutch putts that felt like $10 million putts to hold off Jim Furyk on the back nine at East Lake. He closed with a 2-under 68 for a three-shot victory in the Tour Championship to capture the FedEx Cup. Horschel's career earnings were just over $4.5 million coming into the year. He collected $11.4 million in one day, most of that the $10 million FedEx Cup bonus, an incredible amount of money to win. The timing was great for Horschel, not so much for the American team going over to the Ryder Cup next week. U.S. captain Tom Watson made his three picks after Horschel's runner-up finish in the Deutsche Bank Championship. He should move up to No. 14 in the world but will be watching from home.
Now the Ryder Cup is next week, the players are ready and stage is set. It is very nearly time to BRING THE NOISE!! Where will you be watching?
