Welcome to my first newsletter of 2019. I trust you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I am pleased to say that we had a full house for Christmas lunch before Rose and I went to Devon for New Year with our 4 legged girls!

However it’s back to work now and I am busy sorting out my goals for the coming season!! If you need help with your golfing goals call in and either I or Joe will be happy to help.

Competition news

Results Update

Obviously over the festive period we have had very little competitive golf, but just prior to Christmas the gents played an order of merit competition which was a 3 Ball Am Am with the best 2 scores to count and on top of the tree was the team of Eamonn McGrath, Mike Sutton and Ken Mairs.

Retirement must suit Eamonn as he retired a few days before playing and Mike had only been a member for a couple of days prior to playing, while Ken enjoyed the day!

The only other competitive golf over the festive period were two of my Mixed Stableford competitions which were won by Josh Garside who got £40 on his shop account and Andrew Cowan who got £18 on his shop account.

There are only two of my Mixed Competitions left which are on 9th and 23rd February which will be a 14 hole Individual Stableford open to all categories of members.

Rules Question

In my last newsletter before Christmas I posed a rules question about the new dropping procedure!!

The question was - When taking relief under a rule requiring a drop, the ball must be dropped from knee height with the arm fully extended out from the body?

A: True
B: False

Thank you to those who took the trouble to answer the question and congratulations to Ray Bradbury whose name was drawn out from the correct answers and he will get 3 balls for his trouble. The correct answer was B.
