Scotland Trip Last weekend saw 8 intrepid golfers make their way to Scotland to celebrate a couple of mile stone Birthdays!! Late last year Neil (House Manager) was 40 and later this year Richard (Chef) is 50. So, joining the 3 of us were Neil’s brother Ian and his friend Colin and members Kirk Galloway, Paul Nixon, and George Senior. |
We played at Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes and Dundonald Links and I would highly recommend playing any if not all 3 courses. Unfortunately, I had one of those trips where I hit the ball very well, but the putter obviously doesn’t like Scottish greens!!! So taking the spoils due to a very good last round was George, who managed to overhaul Kirk who fell over the line a tired second. However, I think we were all winners as we had a great time and I can’t wait for next year’s trip! |

Good Start For James
It was a good start for James in the 2019 season when he played the Berkhamsted trophy at Berkhamsted golf club.
Played over four rounds, James played some great golf over the course of the four rounds with the highlight shooting a 67 in round three to get him in contention for the win going into the fourth and final round.
He finished with a solid level par 71 which left him just 2 shots behind the winner in second place, but nevertheless it is a great start to the season for him.
Hopefully he can build on this result and gain a win!

Great conditions all day with the sun shining and the course in great condition for start of the season, with 127 players taking part over three divisions. Division three was won by Ken Mairs with a score of 32 points, he beat Ray Bradbury on a card playoff. Division two was won by Jonathon Howarth who scored 37 points to take the win over Simon Pooler in second place. Finally, division one was won by young Tom Kirton who scored a brilliant 39 points off of scratch to take the win, which also reduced his handicap back down to +1. Congratulations to all the winners on Saturday!!

Ladies Results
On Tuesday the ladies played the medal no.3 with 50 ladies taking part over 2 divisions, with glorious sunshine but a cold and strong wind throughout the day. Division 2 was won by Tracy Titchen with a brilliant score of nett 74 over second place finisher Valerie McGuigan. In division 1 we had another card playoff to deicide the winner, which was between Jean Duncan and Darlene Masters who both scored a nett 78. The winner though was Jean who pipped Darlene by only a couple of shots on the back nine to take the win.
We also had the ladies 9-hole competition which had a brilliant number of entries which is great to see. In second place was Monica Bewers on a brilliant score of 19 points, but the winner just edging her with a score of 20 points was Jayne Davenport.
Finally, we had the ladies Sunday medal no.1, which had just a small field of three ladies taking part. The winner of this competition was Nicky Markland who finished with a nett score of 83 to take the win.

Battery Offer
We are currently running an offer on lithium batteries, when you trade in your old battery you get £25 OFF a brand-new battery.
There are many benefits to switching to a new lithium battery, no more carrying an old heavy lead acid battery to and from the car before and after playing. Shorter charging times with the lithium only taking 8 hours to reach fully charged from flat compared to 14 hours with a standard lead acid.

A driver is a powerful beast, sometimes too powerful if a hole has a hazard within range. In this scenario, you have a plethero of options to choose from, but there is one that is often overlooked. |
Picture the scene You're stood on a par-4 tee box and there’s a water hazard 240 yards away. What do you do? Many of you will reach for your longest iron on auto-pilot, however a custom-fitted fairway wood might just be the perfect solution; getting you further down the hole and closer to the green. | |
|
Why is this often overlooked? A lot of golfers don't have confidence in hitting their fairway wood because, quite simply, they don't use it enough. But with technology to help you hit them better - such as the Spin Control System in Lynx's Black Cat fairway wood that offers fantastic control and trajectory - it's time you gave them another go. |
Custom fitting is key We're delighted to see so many of you come to us for a custom fit when you're after a new driver or set of irons, but why does it stop there? A custom fitting is so important in ensuring you get the most from any new purchase, whether that's a driver, fairway wood or putter. |
