It has been a quiet week on the competition front with only a couple to talk about, starting with the three divisions of the Captain’s Charity Stableford competition. In division three it was Phillip Dodd who took the win with a total points score of 37, Phil beat Fred Bridge on a card playoff over the back nine by just two points. In division two another card playoff was needed as Alan Farrer and Eamonn McGrath were both tied on 36 points, but with a better back nine, Alan Farrer was the winner of division two. Finally, division one was won by George Payne with a score of 39 points, he beat Dave Greensmith by two points. Congratulations to all of the winners over the course of the day.
The ladies also had a competition on Saturday which was the Saturday Par competition. Six ladies took part on the day with great scoring between them all. In second place with a finishing score of two up against the course was Josephine Harrison, a great score but she was just pipped by Gillian Singh who finished four up against the course and took the win.
The last competition was the Lady’s Invitation Day which was played on Tuesday which had a brilliant turnout with a total of 38 pairs playing. I think it was safe to say we were very lucky with the weather as the rain only started with only 40 minutes of play left. A special mention first of all to Michelle Pretty as she made a hole in one on the 17th hole during the invitation, a great achievement, well done. The winners of this year’s invitational were the team of Yvonne Hall and Ava Papis who finished with an incredible 51 points after 18 holes to take the win, their total left them five points clear of second place which was the team of Katie Jordan and her guest Sara Fullard who finished on 45 points. In third place also on 45 points but just losing out on a card playoff was the team of Angie Riordan and her guest Jill Hone.
