It’s been a fantastic week of weather with the sun shining and temperatures reaching 30 degrees and above on some days. A special mention to Mark and his team as the course has been looking and playing in fantastic condition over the past few weeks, with a number of visitors expressing to us in the shop just how good the course is playing at the moment. |

The Cheshire Champ
Congratulations to Mike Harrington who took the Cheshire County Strokeplay Championship over three days at Wilmslow golf club. He finished with an 8 under par total to take the win, he also won the Darlington Trophy for the lowest total over 36 holes. Mike's win means that he will represent Cheshire in the National County Finals at Frilford Heath in September, we’ll keep an eye on him for that one.
It was also good news for Prestbury as Mike was a part of the winning team after 36 holes alongside Remy Miller and Tom Kirton who will represent the County in the National Finals later in the year.

The Nearly Man
It’s a great thing technology (if you know how to use it!) I have been working with John Simons for a couple of months and I am pleased to say that he has made progress with his swing and although his scores haven’t got better his ball striking and enjoyment have got better! However, he came to me a couple of days before Captain's Day in a complete panic as he was sh*nking and topping the ball, but with the aid of GASP mobile app and an iPhone, I was able to put John on the right track.

Unfortunately with an 11, a couple of 8’s and a 7 he wasn’t going to trouble the winners. However, he did still manage a handicap reduction on the day due to the other 14 holes he played!

Putting Things Right Sometimes, it's the most obvious things that get overlooked. When it comes to golf, the club most used in a round is a putter so surely it's the part of the game that deserves most attention? We know this isn't a reality for many, but a combination of working hard on your stroke and having a putter that is suited to your stroke type will certainly improve your chances on the greens - two things that this promotion is all about.

With the golfing season now in full flow, we hope you’re proud to say you’re a member of the club and this fantastic course. It’s for this reason that we have a bunch of crested items in the pro shop, so why not come in for a browse next time you’re at the club? |

A classic piece of golfing attire is the club crested shirt, which is something we're able to offer you thanks to our friends at Glenmuir. They've been creating stylish golf clothing since 1891 and specialise in the art of cresting; so much so that the European Ryder Cup team used them for every event between 1987 and 2014. Well, their current range is an excellent combination of traditional designs with subtle detailing for that added bit of flair - like the hexagonal print detail on the Haddington's chest (fuchsia polo here). So, if you're interested, be sure to grab yourself a piece of Scottish excellence before you next head out onto the course.
