On the Course... Another busy afternoon on Saturday with both the men’s age-related prizes going on throughout the day and the lady’s afternoon stableford competition. In the men’s stableford we had three categories to play for starting with the 65-74 age range where Alan McGuigan took the prize after a solid score of 37 points. The next category was the under 54 age category which was won by Ian Burnage after he shot 38 points. Finally we had the 55-64 age range where Chris Adams won with a great score of 41 points. Congratulations to all the winners on the day. Next on Tuesday was the ladies 9-hole stableford with a great turnout of 14 ladies playing throughout the course of the day. There was a play-off for second place which included Anita Marlow, Janet Taylorson, and Alison Cartmel who all shot 14 points, eventually it was Anita Marlow who claimed second place after the card play-off. The winner though with a score of 15 points was Wendy Phelan. Congratulations Wendy. Next was the stableford No.1 where we had two divisions on the day, and we’ll start with Division Two. In third place with 30 points was Nicola McBride, following her was Gill Buxton who finished on 32 points, but the winner of Division Two with a score of 35 points was Jill Gregory. Next was Division One, and in third place with 33 points was Myra Penkethman, she was beaten into second place by Nicky Markland who scored 35 points, but the winner with a score of 36 points was Margaret Simons. It was the turn of the gents on Wednesday as they played the mid-week stableford, with a great turnout over the course of the day considering the poor weather throughout the morning. Starting with third place we had Paul Manning, he scored a great 38 points. Next, we jump straight to first place as we had a play-off between Ben Bianchi and James Davidson who both finished with 40 points, with a brilliant back nine of 21 points it was James Davidson who was named the winner with Ben in second place. Congratulations to all of the winners of the last week.
