This week's competition results... It was another interesting week regarding the weather where unfortunately we lost another ladies competition last Tuesday after more heavy rainfall. Over the past couple of weeks the course has been closed more times than I can remember due to the poor weather, but without a shadow of a doubt, it’s still in the best condition of any course around the area - a credit to the green staff and the work they have done throughout the year. Starting with the Gent’s foursome’s competition which, as everyone knows, is a tough format to play well. In third place with a nett 71.5 was the team of Dave Aitchison and Dan Osbaldeston. They were beaten into second place by Iain Bartholomew and Tam Byrne when they finished with a nett 70. The winners though were streaks ahead as George Senior and Simon Lewis finished with an impressive nett 66.5. George was in action again a little later that day as he played his final, the top dog, against Ken Williamson where after 18 holes there was still no winner. It took another 2 extra holes to find a winner where Ken Williamson emerged the winner. The Worthington final was also played on the Saturday between James Newton and Mike Harrington which went down to the last hole after some superb golf between the pair. In the end, it was James that emerged victorious winning the match on the final hole. |
