Moving on, this week we only have one result to bring you in which the ladies took part in their Christmas Shotgun, this was a 12-hole Dubai Stableford. There were some strong scorers in the field for this competition. In third place we had Nicky Markland, Janet Higson and Carole Riley who managed a very good 49 points. Darlene Masters, Maura Delaney and Sheila Baxter just beat them to take 2nd place with a score of 50 points. But miles ahead in the lead with a whopping 56 points were Jill Morris, Jenny Purves and Pam Johnson. Well done to the winners in the ladies competition this week.

Next Tuesday 22nd and Tuesday 30th we have no ladies competitions so priority will be given to the lady members until 10am. After 10am the first tee will be available for all lady and gent members.
We also need to let you know that the club house and shop, including changing rooms, will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. However the course will be open as usual for those who wish to have a paddle!!
This week is going to be the 7th of our 9 disciplines. Over the last couple of months, each week we have given you a different short game exercise to help you improve your scoring. Each exercise was short and sweet and designed to help your short game. These drills were designed to help you score better, so we wanted you to try to do them as you would on the course. What we mean by this is don't just hit ball after ball. Between each shot make sure you stand away from the ball and think about what you are going to try and achieve with your next shot. Maybe even hitting some long shots between to try and recreate what it would be like in the course. These drills will not help you improve unless you have the discipline to do them properly. Use 10 balls so the drill doesn't take too long and doesn't take up too much of your time. Keep a diary to keep your scores and do the drill 2 or 3 times throughout the week and see if your scores improve.
This week's exercise is the short bunker shot:
We hope that these winter drills we have given you over the last few weeks have helped you improve your short game and therefore helped lower your scores.
In the New Year we will have a new set of drills starting with our first newsletter of the New Year on January 8th. If you are still struggling with your short game this could be down to your technique or equipment.
We are always here on hand to improve your bag or technique. People are always surprised when they here they me and Mark have 4 wedges in our bag. This is to fill any gaps in the bag so every shot is available. Very often people will have a big gap in loft which limits the different types of shots you can play. Come see us in the shop if you want to ask about the different wedges you should have in your bag.
The Event of the Year!!
This year's fun filled thought provoking professionals evening on 30th January will involve:
A video on hazards
The prize draw
A golf general knowledge quiz
Draw at the end of the evening, with the chance to win a top of the range sky caddie touch worth £299!!!
A lot of you come in with questions about what is the correct rule when entering certain hazardous situations on the course. The video will be designed to hopefully answer any queries you may have.
Due to the nature of the evening, numbers are restricted; it is a ticket only event. Tickets cost £10 which includes a ticket for sky caddie, food and a drink. Tickets are available in the shop. All the Nicks will be on hand to help you out on the evening.
