Last Tuesday on February 17th the ladies took part in a yellow ball stableford over 14 holes. We had 35 ladies take part resulting in 12 teams of 3 plus a silent partner. At the top of the field it was very close with a few very good scores being carded. Lady Captain, Wendy Mosley and Jenny Purves scored a fantastic 58 points, a great score for only 14 holes. However, this was only enough to earn them 3rd place. Just 1 shot ahead of them was Ellen Cail, Gill Usher and Nan Coates who managed 59 points. But narrowly beating them to 1st place with another great score of 59 and winning on a card play-off was Jean Duncan, Tricia Hunt and Jayne Harrison. A big well done to all our ladies who made the prizes last week!!
Former Open Champion Darren Clarke has been named as Europe's 2016 Ryder Cup captain ahead of Miguel Angel Jimenez on Wednesday. The Northern Irishman was the odds-on favourite to be appointed having been a vice-captain during recent victories at Medinah and Celtic Manor, while Jimenez assisted Europe on three occasions during his lengthy career. A five-man committee, which included last year's winning captain Paul McGinley and recent skippers Jose Maria Olazabal and Colin Montgomerie, met at Wentworth to vote on who will lead Europe at Hazeltine next autumn. Do you think they made the right decision?
