It's about time

At last, the wait is finally over; the clocks have changed... that's forward an hour in case you're still struggling! On the down side there will be those who forget; those who you want to throttle because they miss their tee time. On the up side, and it's a major, major plus, the longer evenings can only mean one thing: more golf!

If you do one thing this week, make sure it's giving those fair weather golfers a nudge. It's time to get out there and embrace the new season. The Masters is just around the corner, there's 9-hole golf after work on the cards and, who knows, we might start to see the sun a bit more, too.

Masters Build-Up

Darren Clarke sought to ease the pressure on Rory McIlroy in his first meaningful act as captain of the European Ryder Cup team.

McIlroy's bid to complete the career grand slam by winning next month's Masters is currently golf's main plot-line.

It was an inevitable talking point as Clarke gave his first interviews since his recent appointment as skipper. Europe's leader has known his fellow countryman since his schoolboy days and firmly believes McIlroy will complete a full set of major victories.

But as the world number one continues his preparations for the one grand slam title to elude him, Clarke tried to ease the burden of expectation on his 25-year-old compatriot. "In a couple of weeks' time he's obviously going for the career grand slam and I think if he doesn't win it this time, he'll win it next time."

As usual we are doing our masters sweepstake, we will be taking the top 50 players in the world and assigning each member to one of the tour pros. It will cost £10 per player and the prizes will be as follows:
