The Open 2015
Will Spieth make it 3 Majors in a row!!
This week sees the 144th Open Championship take place at St Andrews and after the Scottish Open at Gullane it looks as if the American's are in form!! Personally I think this week is very open and a number of players could win it. My picks from the obvious contenders are Spieth, Rickie Fowler (back to back wins) Justin Rose and Branden Grace. My mid table picks are Bernd Weisberger, Sergio Garcia and Joost Luiten. My last picks are Tommy Fleetwood, Ryan Palmer and Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Whoever wins will be a worthy Champion I hope that the weather doesn't spoil the show. I bet Rory is now kicking himself at not being able to defend the Claret Jug but as I said last week he does have to have a life outside of golf and if that means injuring himself so be it.
The Sweepstake is drawn and is published in the shop, clubhouse and on Facebook. 1st prize is £175, 2nd prize £125, 3rd Prize £75, 4th prize £50 and 5th prize £25. You can also find the draw by clicking here. The prize money will be credited to your account. Also the best round on each day by a player who doesn't finish in the top 5 will win £10, so that's 9 chances of winning! Good luck.

Last week the ladies had an exchange day with Trentham Golf Club. The format being a 4 team Am Am with 15 teams taking part, there was a 3 way tie at the top but winning on a count back was Mary Weaver, Linda Miller, Elaine Fawkes and Pam Johnson from the teams of Jo Harrison, Glenys Smith, Caroline Harrison-Croft and Lindsey English and Linda Buckley, Gill Buxton, Janet Graham and Carole Riley. Nearest the pin went to Glenys Smith and the longest drive to Jo Harrison.
The gents played the Granfathers and subsidiary Stableford which was an individual stableford off the yellow tees and in the Grandfathers Alan Hare led the way with 39 points from George Payne with 38 points and Mike Murray and Tony McGuinness 3rd with 37 points. The Subsidiary competition was won by Alex Marshall with 41 points with Chris Adams, Dan Farrer, Ian Johnson and Josh Turnock all tied 2nd with 39 points.
