Last Tuesday 18th August the ladies took part in the Team Pink in Aid of Breast Cancer Research competition; this was a shotgun start in a Quad AM format. We had an impressive 64 ladies take part in the competition, always good to have a decent turn out for charity golf days. The winners of the comp were Pam Johnson, Denise Oaks, Andrea Atherton and Margaret Tebay Wood who managed 91 points. 

The following Saturday the gents had their invitation day where one of our members plays with a guest from another club in pairings. We had a morning shotgun and an afternoon shotgun. In the morning Neil Atkinson and his guest Mark Hadfield managed 41 points to come 3rd. Two shots ahead with 43 points were Stephen Hall and his guest Stephen Pool, but a further shot ahead with 44 points and winning the morning shotgun were Bill Seddon and his guest John McBryer. In the afternoon Geoff Churchman and his guest Malcolm Thornley came in 3rd with 40 points. Ceri James and guest Edward Johnson came in with a very good 42 points but were just edged out to 1st spot by Gary Titchen and his guest Mike Harrington who won on a card play-off. Well done to all our winners in last week's competitions.

Night Golf 

On 31st October we are doing a night golf event. This is always a lot of fun so get down to the pro-shop quickly to book a spot. If you haven't done it before and don't know what it is, basically we have a company come down and they light up the golf course in the dark using LED lighting.

   

Fairways are lit either side with white lights (it looks a like a runway!), greens are encircled with green lights and tees, bunkers and hazards are also lit up. The balls are approved size and weight and will perform to about 90% of a normal golf ball. They contain 2 LED lights which illuminate when you hit them so you can see the whole flight of the ball through the air. Each player is given a different coloured ball and you are given spares (just in case!). The Night Golf Company have designed and supply their own unique flags. These flags have up to 100 LED lights to complete what is a visually stunning experience. Paths are also lit up with different coloured bright LED lights. The safety of golfers is the highest priority so only the safest walking routes are used and water hazards are avoided.

Photo Competition 

At the moment we are running a photo competition where you have to try and work out where on the course a particular photograph was taken. How this will work is we will be putting a photograph from the golf course up on here and it is your task to try and work out where it is. All the winners will be entered into a draw and 1 lucky winner will win a FREE Cobra bag at the end of the month!!!!
