Last week the ladies took part in a couple of semi-final matches. Unfortunately, the B team lost in their semi but the A team won and will play against Ringway in the final at Alsager GC. The ladies also played in the Bell Cup finals day last week. They won their semi-final in the morning but were beaten by Sale in the final 4-3. Still a tremendous achievement as over 80 clubs entered the competition to start with. Well done, ladies!
Tue 2 Sep - The ladies take part in a Medal competition. 55 ladies took part and were split into two divisions. In Division One, Maya Thomas came in with a nett 78 which was good enough for second place, two shots behind Carole Hulme's 76. Jill Morris also carded a 78 which was again good enough for 2nd place, this time in Division One. Isobel Wardle was the winner of the division after carding a 76. The overall winner was Carole Hulme who won on a card play-off.
Sat 5 Sep - The following Saturday came the turn of the gents. In third place was Richard Lowery who scored a nett 71 but also scored the lowest gross of the day. Simon Moorehouse managed an impressive 68 which was only good enough for the runners-up spot, being narrowly beaten by no-one other than the Captain himself who came in with a very good 67. Well done Mr Captain and all the other winners of last week's competitions.
On 31st October we are doing a Night Golf event. This is always a lot of fun so get down to the pro shop quickly to book a spot. If you haven't done it before and don't know what it is, basically we have a company come down and they light up the golf course in the dark using LED lighting - as seen here. Fairways are lit either side with white lights (it looks a like a runway!), greens are surrounded with green lights and tees, plus all bunkers and hazards are lit up, too.
The balls are approved size and weight and will perform to about 90% of a normal golf ball. They contain two LED lights which illuminate when you hit them so you can see the whole flight of the ball through the air. Each player is given a different coloured ball and you are given spares (just in case!).
The Night Golf company have designed and supply their own unique flags. These flags have up to 100 LED lights to complete what is a visually stunning experience. Paths are also lit up with different coloured bright LED lights. The safety of golfers is the highest priority so only the safest walking routes are used and water hazards are avoided.
To book your space as this truly unique event, get in touch here or pop into the shop.
New in this week are our gents' Cutter & Buck lined sweaters. They come in a few different colours, including blue and black. Forget the forecast as the Cutter & Buck WeatherTec collection protects you with the best in technical fabrics. They are wind-resistant, lightweight, breathable and comfortable. A great combo if you ask me! We have also the Autumn/Winter clothing from Green Lamb and Glenmuir. It will be going onto the shelves this week so get down and have a look!
Our sale of all our summer clothing is in full swing with 25% and 50% OFF all of our summer clothes. Get down to the pro shop quick before it all goes!!
Throughout August we ran a photo competition where we went out and took a photograph of somewhere on the course. It was your task to work out and tell us where on the course the photo was taken. All the winners were then put into a prize draw where the winner won a brand new Cobra bag. The draw was done recently and our winner was Ellen Cail. Well done, Ellen on working out where on the course our picture from week four was, you are now the owner of a brand new Cobra bag!
Are your balls big enough?!
Chrome Soft with Truvis Technology takes a golf ball that has completely redefined performance and adds a proprietary visual technology to maximise your view of the golf ball. The red and white Truvis pattern is specifically designed for better focus and visibility. Basically the ball looks bigger down to an optical illusion.
I am off on my happy holidays as of today. I am going to Devon for a couple of weeks with Rose and the dogs. We are hoping to have some lovely September sunshine, if we're lucky. Joe and the younger, better looking Nick will be in charge, if you need to get a message to me leave it with them.
Finally, over the weekend I attended the wedding of my eldest son, Michael. Here are just a few of the photos taken from a great day. Definitely one to remember (or not).
