Waterproofs
The table shows numerically how much water a water-proof jacket may be able to take. All of the jackets in the shop are highly waterproof, which I am going to try and prove in the near future. I am going to do this by doing a 'bucket challenge'. Basically I'm going to put on some of the waterproofs in the shop and have buckets of water thrown over me.
Fingers crossed I will still be dry at the end of it all. I am also going to try some new water-proofs and some old ones to show that old water-proofs can lose their water-proof technology (hopefully not by too much).
Layering
Layer 1: The 'Base Layer'
Base Layer garments are worn next to the skin and moisture management is a key element for this primary layer to remove moisture from the skin which natural fibres such as cotton, cannot achieve on their own due to high absorbency. The base layer should fit the shape of the body quite closely so that it works to its optimum in cold conditions. One of the key advantages of a base layer is the warmth it generates to the body helps golfers swing more freely and therefore perform better.
Layer 2: The "Mid Layer"
The mid layer plays a key role in thermal regulation depending on the conditions. In cold weather the mid layer should give additional thermal insulation to keep the body warm and comfortable by trapping heat generated by the body. Mid-layers for cold conditions are generally constructed from soft and stretchy materials that provide a snug fit that in no way restricts the golf swing.
Breathability is essential in a good mid layer so that any excess moisture or heat is transported away from the body for easy evaporation. Traditionally wool sweaters have been used as a popular mid layer however these trap heat and prevent moisture movement, so are not suitable as part of a layering solution.
Layer 3: The "Outer Layer"
The Outer Layer is the weather protective layer and is designed to provide golfers with maximum protection against rain and wind. It is essential that the outer layer you choose is adequate for the conditions you face but should also be of a breathable moisture wicking construction and well ventilated to allow the 3 layer system to work efficiently.
Night Golf
Only a few places left. Don't miss out!
On 31st October we are doing a night golf event. This is always a lot of fun so get down to the pro-shop quickly to book a spot. If you haven't done it before and don't know what it is, basically we have a company come down and they light up the golf course in the dark using LED lighting.
Fairways are lit either side with white lights (it looks a like a runway!), greens are encircled with green lights and tees, bunkers and hazards are also lit up.
The balls are approved size and weight and will perform to about 90% of a normal golf ball. They contain 2 LED lights which illuminate when you hit them so you can see the whole flight of the ball through the air. Each player is given a different coloured ball and you are given spares (just in case!). The Night Golf Company have designed and supply their own unique flags. These flags have up to 100 LED lights to complete what is a visually stunning experience. Paths are also lit up with different coloured bright LED lights. The safety of golfers is the highest priority so only the safest walking routes are used and water hazards are avoided.
New Chrome Ball
Are your balls big enough?!
Chrome Soft with Truvis Technology takes a golf ball that has completely redefined performance and adds a proprietary visual technology to maximise your view of the golf ball.
The red and white Truvis pattern is specifically designed for better focus and visibility.
Basically the ball looks bigger down to an optical illusion.
