Night Golf

Who will be crowned king or queen of the night!

On 31st October we are doing a night golf event. This is always a lot of fun so get down to the pro-shop quickly to book a spot. If you haven't done it before and don't know what it is, basically we have a company come down and they light up the golf course in the dark using LED lighting.

Fairways are lit either side with white lights (it looks a like a runway!), greens are encircled with green lights and tees, bunkers and hazards are also lit up.

The balls are approved size and weight and will perform to about 90% of a normal golf ball. They contain 2 LED lights which illuminate when you hit them so you can see the whole flight of the ball through the air. Each player is given a different coloured ball and you are given spares (just in case!). The Night Golf Company have designed and supply their own unique flags. These flags have up to 100 LED lights to complete what is a visually stunning experience. Paths are also lit up with different coloured bright LED lights. The safety of golfers is the highest priority so only the safest walking routes are used and water hazards are avoided.

Only a few placed left, don't miss out!!

Shop news

Great Big Bertha

New in the shop this week we have the Callaway Great Big Bertha, the biggest, longest Big Bertha yet and we have available for demo in the shop.

It Has:

- High ball speed from next gen R MOTO Technology. To get every last yard out of your driver, you need more speed. That's why we put in our Next Gen R. MOTO Technology. It provides the structure for a thinner face, leading to high ball speeds on centre hits and off-centre hits too.

-  Head speed from a light, stable, multi-material chassis. This is the best combination they've ever had of an aerodynamic head shape and multi-material lightweight club design. It's the key to generating higher club head speed through aerodynamics and a wide range of weight classes available to suit every swing type, from 295 to 325g.

- Forgiveness and control from adjustable perimeter weighting. There's a 10g sliding weight on the perimeter of the club head. It is put there to add stability, and you can slide the weight for more dispersion control to hit your drives on line. You have virtually unlimited draw and fade bias options, more additional draw bias than ever before, and you get all of this without sacrificing forgiveness.

We are offering a driver challenge; have a go with your own driver then have a go with this. If you hit your own driver further we will give you 3 free balls. We're pretty confident we aren't going to lose any balls.

Post Xmas Draw

I know, I know….. It's too early to be talking about Christmas, but just to let you know that tickets for the Xmas draw are now available in the shop. There are over £1500 worth of prizes and its only 1 pound per ticket so to be in with a chance get down to the shop and buy a ticket!

Layering

Layer 1: The 'Base Layer'

Base Layer garments are worn next to the skin and moisture management is a key element for this primary layer to remove moisture from the skin which natural fibres such as cotton, cannot achieve on their own due to high absorbency. The base layer should fit the shape of the body quite closely so that it works to its optimum in cold conditions. One of the key advantages of a base layer is the warmth it generates to the body helps golfers swing more freely and therefore perform better.

Layer 2: The "Mid Layer"

The mid layer plays a key role in thermal regulation depending on the conditions. In cold weather the mid layer should give additional thermal insulation to keep the body warm and comfortable by trapping heat generated by the body. Mid-layers for cold conditions are generally constructed from soft and stretchy materials that provide a snug fit that in no way restricts the golf swing.

Breathability is essential in a good mid layer so that any excess moisture or heat is transported away from the body for easy evaporation. Traditionally wool sweaters have been used as a popular mid layer however these trap heat and prevent moisture movement, so are not suitable as part of a layering solution.

Layer 3: The "Outer Layer"

The Outer Layer is the weather protective layer and is designed to provide golfers with maximum protection against rain and wind. It is essential that the outer layer you choose is adequate for the conditions you face but should also be of a breathable moisture wicking construction and well ventilated to allow the 3 layer system to work efficiently.

Click and Collect

In case you are not aware of out click and collect system we want to give you a reminder. If you want to buy any golf equipment that we don't stock in the shop, for example Srixon balls are very popular, then just go onto my website www.nicksummerfield.co.uk and use the click and collect icon. Once in you we be able to view everything available from the manufacturers I deal with, which is just about all of them. Simply buy the items from there and collect it in the shop a few days later. Easy Peasy.
